happy birthday to me: year 41

I canβt remember when I started following Stephanie Berrie on instagram, but I clicked βfollowβ once I saw her fine, fine, detailed nature prints.
She was offering up an owl print tee for charity, and I quickly grabbed one. Itβs gorgeous! There are feathers on the back as well! In my typical fashion, I bought the biggest one I could get, and have re-sewn it into my size. Yes, another one for me.
I canβt wait for my next print!
I first sewed this mens sweater in April 2022 into the vest dress. It took several washes and eventually design choices to remove stains.
Itβs been hanging on my clothing rack since thenβ¦and upon trying it again (after these first photos) it really didnβt look and fit as I intended. So I decided to change it again into a two piece, with a gather at the back for a better fit that feels more fresh and less formal. The skirt has a high-low cut as well.
I remember the day I found this sweater at the thrift store! Whenever I find vintage items that were produced in British Hong Kong, they remind me of where my dad grew up.
This vintage Neiman Marcus 100% mercerized cotton sweater is likely from the late 70s-early 80s.
My favorite weather is longsleeved mini dress weather!
The top green wavy sweater is vintage Jhane Barnes, silk woven in Japan. The multicolored sweater is vintage Norm Thompson made in Italy.
As I do not use βregularβ sewing machines and also avoid zippers and buttons, I developed this style to easily go over your head and cross at the back, as a breezy, Summer sundress.
And I am excited to sew up my vintage fabric collection!!!
I collect vintage sweatshirts from my alma mater, mostly from eBay.
In brainstorming a style that would fit several sizes, I created this 33 wrap skirt. My friend was turning 33 when we were in Brazil so I wanted to surprise her with a number piece, but also that I would be able to wear it a few months later.
